He looked up at the night sky
Saw the stars and wondered why
And of these wonders he did write
For poets have the second sight

Her love had left, she now was free
Began getting lost  in reverie
And of these memories she did write
Poets don't get much sleep at night

Sometimes  poets lose sight of the days
That tend to go by in a haphazard haze
For their  minds are always on rhyme
Meter and verse make them forget time

He looked at the empty bed missing her form
Thinking of the quarrel that caused a storm
Of these woeful happenings he had to write
For poets can't help but share their plight

It's one way society learns to cope
Sharing the drama of life, it gives hope
Of sages and poets that have gone before us
Let's give thanks to them, (and the Thesaurus!;-)

A witty little ditty of how poetry affects us. It is informative, sweet, and sassy. Much loved as are you.

YOU HAVE DRAWN A POET(WHICH BY THE WAY DOES RESEMBLE MOST POETS) WITH SHARP, LIFE LIKE FEATURES THAT EXUDES THE ESSENCE OF TRUTH...LOOKING IN A MIRROR...I TAKE IT?(SMILE) A REMARKABLE WORK...THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS & FAITH...

Such is the way of a poet, my days have been flying by with little inspiration, hopefully the nights will redeem themselves and inspire something deep inside all of us poets.

Much peace, love and light,
Amber

Your verses remind me as to why I do not mind being referred to as a "poet" and a "romantic fool." Thank you, Eileen. Love and best wishes,

What a mixed blessing being poets- but what choice did we have?

Lordy, I've sure been one to air my dirty laundry, but I have to tell you, Eileen, I think doing what I did was a great help in making me accept things as they are and become peaceful within myself.

I would like it if you would read my poem, "God Makes a Flower.
