I curried favor with celestial saints
To be loosed of worldly restraints
To join the stars in their galaxy
Where my impulses could be set free
I wanted to surf the indigo night
To find the realms of pure delight
Where true love reigns without spite
Aglow like diamonds shining bright
Embracing everlasting vision of dreams
Dressed in shimmering moonlight gleam
To awake in sunlights warming rays
In lucent waterfalls to bathe and play
To explore the universe in all its ways
No longer counting twenty four hour days
To seek higher modes of learning I beseech
That there will be no horizon I can't reach

Sweet Eileen... you are awesome! Sounds like we enough for an all out surf the sky party, I'm in! Thank you for such an uplifting poetry piece... loves it!
"I wanted to surf the indigo night" establishes a mind set that welcomes all challenges to the human spirit Eileen. You set the personal goals for attainment with no bounds. Beautiful my dear friend. Love and peace be with you. Jon Michael
A very beautiful poem you've written here. I thoroughly enjoyed the read from the very first line to the very last. I can picture someone reciting this poem (to another person) outside by the ocean with the moon casting its shadow on the water and the stars shining overhead.
Thank you so much for sharing this poem and please keep on writing!
You did WHAT with the Celestial Saints? This being a family site and all I'll just assume that Cumin and Cinnamon and cloves is what were talkin' about here:-) Patrick
Wonderful freedom in this self-aware and playful poem!
Blessings,
Christine

Ah, Camelot is a hard place to find, Eileen. Shangri-Li is equally difficult to discover. About the best we can do is, as you suggested, become as one with the celestial saints. Even they, I fear, will come up short in our expectations of them.
Early Works is an exhaustive compilation of the first decade of the poems and stories of Z.B.McClure. Included are family photos, rare personal photos, photos of 1st draft manuscripts of many of his early poems. Also some biography and memoir materia
