This travel blog photo's source is TravelPod page:

I can sit, and become totally transfixed
watching an array of images on
varied surfaces made by sunlight and shadows
streaming into a room through various openings

sunlight pierces the blind
climbing one darkened  wall of a room
like a bolt of lightning
while on a wall across the room shadows
outline the  chair you're sitting in

on the floor one spot
the size of a penny
you learn it is a sunbeam
as you go to pick it up

reflected light off the dark drapes
a partial image of a vase of flowers
made by a shaft of sun,the other half
concealed in shadow of folded drape

I know the process of light and dark
but to me, it still remains God's mystery
one so beautiful, it fascinates me

You my friend have an artist eye. I have drawing since I was 5. Won my first contest at 10. You can see Gods painting forming where others would simply see shadows. But then again you have always been an artist in word. I have missed your work and glad you are still here. An awesome word painting as usual!

And they move and distort and flicker. Natural light shows are the best, your own kitchen kabuki dance. Patrick

a challenge to separate an object from the masquerading light's trickery with perception -- the shapes, shadows and unique images the sun's light projects into our imagination is nothing less than masterful art from God -- Monet, Picasso, Van Gogh, and the other masters pale in His competition -- artistically invigorating spiritually moving Eileen -- I bid you love and peace my dear friend -- Jon Michael

Fascinating indeed chum. Lovely living space in the image, and i'd be interested to know what might have happened if you were able to pick up that penny sunbeam. Peace ... richard

And you describe it, so well, Sis.

PS: That nasty old rascal Tom Hyland attacked our old Ed Family in his latest poem, but I defended you Tiger Lily. Keep Contemplating Those Sunbeams!

Eileen, in addition to your artistry with the pen, it
appears eloquently that you lo possess a knowledgeable
flair with the brush. This is definitely a keeper. -gene.

Any of the great Old Masters would be
proud to read this and proud of you
for writing it, Eileen; how well you
and they understand the subtleties
of shade and promises of half light,
pinpoints and expansions, flood and ebb.
I love this poem.

Eileen, you have painted a wonderful visual of something we take for granted, and yes, to me it is a mystery.

You sorta outdid yourself . . . Again, my friend. You took a room and gave us a guided tour of the shadows and light, of half darkened walls and ladder steps as the sun beams through the blinds.

"on the floor one spot
the size of a penny
you learn it is a sunbeam
as you go to pick it up" . . . Gotta love it!!!!!

An elegant exploration, and you must be an artist!?
I am fascinated by light and shadow also, and the way it moves inside of us also.
Blessings,
Christine
