Emerging patterns of light and dark
Fill my nights and seek the mark
Of when you were last here with me
I'm  ever caught up in this  reverie

"Absence makes the heart grow fonder"
But too long and the mind may wander
it yearns to have the loving touch
that let's it know it's loved and such

In dappled sunlights loving kiss
I hold the hope of your promise
but in the lonely silent night
I cannot conjure up your sight

For you have stayed away too long
I forgot the tune to your sweet song
and though I'm waiting patiently
I fear  the loss of  memory

A  garden  must be tended with care
if  not  it will soon become bare
the dire neglect continues to  show
so my tears must cease to flow

Eileen, you tended the garden of love with poetry. "In dappled sunlights loving kiss, I hold the hope of your promise, but in the lonely silent night, I cannot conjure up your sight". How tender, how caring and deeply emotional. You tend the garden of love with the heart. I bid you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael

Tears are the dew from which new roses grow. Sad and longing but with a hopeful end note of moving on with life. This is lovely, Eileen. Have a wonderful holiday.
Take care,
Sherry

Beautiful poetry that speaks of gardens of the heart and well as verdant and fecund vineyards of the soul. Such truisms in nature and the metaphor is exquisite, Eileen. One of your very best as this reads to perfection. xx

Eileen, I can feel the yearning in your poem! It is very difficult when the one you love isn't around....If love is meant to be it will be no matter how much time has passed. Wishing you love, and peace always! Chessly

There is a tearful thought here, but on the lighter side… And untended garden becomes bare. Whereas a tended garden becomes covered. In my convoluted mind, a bare garden is much more attractive than a covered one. What's wrong with me?

Love this one!
I have always been amazed that some people think of absence as making a heart grow fonder. I think communication equals growth and silence and absence, not so much.
Blessings,
Christine

If you ever come back,
There's the rake, there's the hoe,
Take it all and just go.
It's too late, don't you see,
To me you're the dead sea.
My garden's newly plowed,
Take a hike, so long, ciao.
