- Imaginary inner landscapes-can they help in a real f(l)ight? -
"Have you met one of those monsters
that come and steal one's words of truth?"
An oafish ogre tried to lock me in,
but I broadened my horizon
flying unexpectedly from my cage.
I spread my wings
- not airy-fairy -
they were strong enough
to face the hostile winds.
For the first time,
I smiled,
- tears would have fed the ogre -
knowing I wouldn't allow my solitude
to turn into pernicious despair.
I was prepared.
I created connections,
drew the contours
of a new inner landscape
flying over a forest of flickering light bulbs,
swimming across a river of nails,
fighting against an army of electric cables.
All for the sake of freedom;
I did it to save the precious words,
wrapped up in violet velvet,
kept next to my heart
to bring you sweet truth:
bitter to liars,
lethal to the greedy soul.
"If kept warm,
close to their limpid source,
words can feed actions
that simply break any wall."
Keeping secrets can lead to one's demise. "And the truth shall set you free." There is so much inner strength in your words - words to which I can relate.
The powerful and vivid imagery as well as the symbolic undertones serve to enhace the meaning of your verses, Axilea. Well done! Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and best wishes,
Bountiful poemization... "For The Sake Of Words" was painted with ink that suffuses the scent of wisdom... It was poetized with words dictated from the lexis of a wise soul.
hmm, beautiful lines nurtured by thought and penned with great semblance of order. truely, poets and wordsmiths will be able to relate to this work.

i used to sleep with a handwritten poem under my pillow; i used to think when i was 'younger' the words would, by osmosis of some sort, imbed themselves into my body. .. .
i guess for we poetic types, words are oxygen.. ..inhlaing exhaling living breathing. ..

I would like to think that love and acceptance in word (and action) is what breaks down walls instead of building.
