- time, effort... to become a man -

     In search
of a subterranean,
mineral world,
- to understand himself,
his real worth -
    unburnt
by the violent light
of his superficial side,
responding to her
secret earthly call,
he becomes a soul-digger.

    To accomplish
his first work:
ravishing rays from the surface,
delving always further,
he faces his most difficult task.

Few tools,
    little time
(his life on earth),
feverishly he sinks meaning
into the stone,
scratches mud
from his own bones,
until he faces
- alone -
his dirt,
his shame,
his arrogant game.

Loneliness
awaits his mind
when determination to grow
embraces his heart.

He must be ready
     to let go,
until he forgets his name
and the easy ride

to success?
         fame?
         power?

throughout the empty life
of an ordinary male.

He knows
he'll be abandoned
to the acrid smell
of his blood and sperm,
to the aching, primeval wounds
of his pride,
yet he tries...
   to conquer patience,
to win his fight against war,
(and not against her)
           to finally become whole.

Axilea you've blown my mind with this extraordinay release. I love the flow of this and it really defines man's vain strive for manhood. More often than not we are in a hot hurry to be providers. To give to our familys food, shelter, and clothing. When we deprive them of the thing they need the most, which is love. Thanks again for a great read & Have a Happy Holiday Season!

This is good....man's conquest of himself is as elusive as the path to dominate the world...there are many who have found themselves nothing more than a page of history within a book...the real completion is when one finds balance of body, mind, and soul...even the acceptance of qualities that can only come from her are the beginnings of that balance...

a very nice work...

enjoyed, Axilea...

I see you as a woman whose depth is way beyond that of her friends and relations. I know. I'm guilty of flying ona another plain too sometimes. I reach out for understanding and it's vanished.

When I read this, I thought of Tolkeins' "The Two Towers"--Saruman and the birthing of the Uruk-Hai --such a painful way for a man to be birthed--reborn from the mud and sticky web of painful rejuvination. --beaten by life until he knows nothing but pain, patience, and a strong desire to fight. I always felt so sorry for them, though I feared them and knew they were the enemy to the great mission. I also thought about fractions. A not whole man would be a fraction of a man. Coming from a musical background, I know that 4/5 is a pretty dissident tone. 3/5 is not bad, however. That is harmony... Doesn't fight so much against the dominant tone. Hoping he creates an harmonic tune --Charlie

by birth we enter this world as explorers, though the journey indeed is about the self not merely to experience the outer environment. we are challenged to find what completes us, and contrary to what we have been marketed to believe, that completion comes from within. thus, the ultimate challenge is to give birth to one's self... your style is captivating and thought provoking....

much peace,

jackie

You strum the mind like a classical guitarist strums the strings of a fine instrument...lots of rifts and notes out of sync but always in tune.
