A lady strides among the blossoms
Of an enchanting pastel glade,
Her smile is soft,
Her blue eyes shy,
Within a wide brim's shade.
Her dress, a sweet confection,
Its cut the latest style,
Flows airily down,
From neck to ground,
Innocent, free of guile.
Within small hands she holds a book,
Brand new, its binding stiff,
The title gleams
In rich gold leaf
Where ere the sun's rays hit.
Roses bloom upon her cheeks
As she reads the bold inscription,
"These words herein
For you were writ,
Proclaiming my ardent intentions."
Gracefully sinking to the grass
She traces the scrawl of his name,
First with her finger,
Then with her lips,
And she trembles
With love's banked flames.
Beautifully written words describing a beautiful maiden smitten by the published words of her ardent lover. Unfortunately, for the most part, classical love poetry like this was only available to the very rich and landed. While the poor may have been as ardent, their scratches of poetry if they could even write, were lost along with scraps of paper they were written on.
Today, anyone with leisure time on their hands can write poetry to those they love. They can even text it now in shorthand language or twitter it for all the world to see. Making our time better than those classic times with only a few being able to write and publish love poetry.

When Sophie Bayles inadvertently ruins a young man’s chance for employment, she sets out to find him a new position. Even though he doesn’t want her to.
