Poem Artwork

Like a mist of spring rain
Over lavender blossoms
Old memories touch my mind,
Sweetly echoing the laughter
And the tears of yesterday.
As the album within me
Opens to this place
So well remembered,
I see again a wealth
Of boyish mischief and manly charm
Within a handsome face.
I feel again my girlish heart
As I ached and hoped and dreamed,
Knowing we could never be
But wishing just the same.
You were so beautiful, truly,
My knight in shining armor,
The stick by which
All others must measure
Whether conscious or not.
Where are you now, I wonder?
Are you happy, content?
Do you think of me
On some rare occasion
When the past might open itself?
Do you know how I once loved you
In purity and innocence and sadness?
A girl on the brink of womanhood
Forever and still alive
Within me.

Memory is one of life’s most precious gifts...
I love how you muse over the past...
However, often the past is best left behind...
and the memories are sweeter...

Best wishes, Diana...

Time has a way of softening hurt. And a way of emphasizing the beauty of things we tok for granted when we were children playing freely amid the natural world as though it would forever remain that way.

I'm not sure whether he acknowledged your love for him at that time, but it is obvious that that memory, that love, has grown through the years to be legendary in your own mind.

I might suggest one of the people search sites like MyLife.com where you can almost find almost anyone if you have enough information to identify them.

Young love is always remembered with nostalgia, but this memory is beautifully rendered in this lovely poem.

So real, we all have those loves of the past that still can move emotions and stir up memories that we thought we'd forgotten. Well done.
