Dearest Mom--- Just got your letter today postmarked 30 March 2005; Took fifteen days to get here and my sergeant just handed it to me. I’m doing fine as can be expected for where I am.I’m alive And really miss being home with you and Marjorie. Wish I could tell you all about this dusty place I’m in But that has to remain a secret—at least right now. The sergeant says I need to keep a stiff upper chin But that’s tough to do even when I sit down for chow And thank God I’m alive again today. This war—well, I can’t say much—is really tough To face when the bullets whiz by and I hear someone say That another has died from enemy fire and how rough It’ll be to have to tell the family their daughter has fallen. It’s enough to make me cry under my covers and even though I call on God To watch over me, I wonder if we will make it. I’ve written enough for now; it’s almost midnight And I have to make sure I clean my mess kit. So, I’ll just put here “Hold Marjorie tight,” Love, Aaron.
You're doing a wonderful job of portraying this soldier and all he is going through..
So many like him go on to make the ultimate sacrifice, leaving behind sadness and pain, but without those like himself, where oh where would we be?
Someone I knew died on mothers day last year. Was in Iraq for only three weeks. 2 kids and his anniversary was 2 days after he died. Because of him and all the others before him and the man in your poem, we get to sit here...and read this piece. Free and safe. Because they make it that way.
Some only picture these men brave, and they all are, just for enlisting, taking the chance and the sacrifices leaving home, but many don't picture them crying under the covers and I know they most probably do...We are all human and fear is fear, to think this might be the end, yes, its scary...
Keep um' coming George, you got me hooked!

These song lyrics and art are tales, tides and twinkling lights - tunes telling stories of warmth and sun, city and sand, paths that lead, and the coins we can keep in the Karma Bank. Spirit's been bypassed for sorrow, dreaming of a better tomorrow .
I have written a chapter called I Am That, I Am in this inspirational compilation book by best-selling authors and wonderful people from all walks of life xox :-D (Its sister book is called Adventures In Manifesting - Success and Spirituality)
