Lady doggy so beautiful,
what goes on inside you?
Your mournful eyes look at me.
If you’re in pain, what can I do?
To the vet I’ve taken you;
after checkup, his eyes brim with tears.
He says your pain—so deep—exhausts us so;
nothing will help your 109 years.
I take you home, pain showing on my face,
Tears well up and I feel your pain.
I’ve loved and muzzled you so much--
I sit beside you with nothing to gain.
You’ll always be loved,
and I’ll keep you beside me while you sleep.

than our name) is failing, and it breaks my heart. Don't know her age because we got her from a rescue organization. She is blind in one eye due to abuse by a former owner. Didn't slow her down a
bit! She is still full of spunk, and doesn't seem to be in pain. We are making the most of every moment we are given. Thank you so much for sharing this. Give Louise an extra hug for me. . .gently. . .
