the Fragrant
Leaves
that drift through
Sleep
uninvited, but enjoyed,

remain
discreet,
then,
Sift is deep,
an unfamiliar votive

of smelling salts,
figures of baltic people
stressing Motives

unknown to me,
frontal beauty is
more than my Restorative

Sleep can keep,
I shift, the Steep
is too much, I try waking

only to get pissed off
I need more Rest,
while debating

quietly, inside my
thoughts,
I crack Slumber again

drifting, I can tell
be the Deliciousness
of zen-like

feelings, this Rest will be good
thank God, 'cause I so-need it.

and off I'm Dreaming
peacefully again,
Rest to complete me...

i sleep about 3 or 4 hours a night ... when i do i sleep, i walk inside my dreams, where i realize i am still awake ...

outstanding poem ... i like how you weave in and out, like in the throngs of a wake induced lucid dream...

Aww Rose, I sure can relate to this. I suffer sleep apnea. Having been diagnosed, I now sleep with a CPap. But I am witness of what lack of restorative sleep can do to a person. This is an excellent poem.

Your expressions are displayed in a way to show the restlessness of not finding the sleep of one's own need....

Beside Still Waters by Jill Eisnaugle

Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
