Where are you?
Where did you go?
The painful remedy
I use to numb the pain
below
works well only
with tea
and full moons,
don't ask me, ask Grace,
she told me so,
she said,
"Don't you long for
what is wrong for
your heart and your head,"
A lot of good that's done me,
seeing as I just go on
and do what I do
when I want you,
making wishes on
what I know
won't materialize
without grave vistas.
If bad consequence would come
why does my heart enlist this
dream, this cruel desire,
silly me, hearts don't "choose" this,
just like we don't "choose" whom we love.
We "choose" who we live with.
Contraband Marriage, traveling along the hemline of loving after incarceration, is a love story written in lyric and free form, set in reality with a different ever after.
This poem sings the decision of a "heart's "choice" with a clear voice. I have enjoyed it.
