The quiet's a little too loud tonight,
I was fast asleep, 'til the dream
stopped, why
I could not crack slumber again, might be
that silence is really pretend, the beat
inside me is nuanced newly by you,
with your introduction, it's prone to hue,
a subtle, yet gilded, sparkling
gold blue,
with quiet a little too loud,
it's true .....
....that the filth that's settled deep inside a mind
can filter out, wilter out when one finds
a new reason to think of love and light
with quiet making audible the fight
that needs to be there, to remember Self
enough to gently lift from dusty shelves
the dreams so to shine them up bright,
like new,
All this, with the quiet that comes from truth,
So loud, yet so peaceful, it feels like new,
The quiet's a little too loud, not true
'cause if it's awakening me to truth
the quiet's never loud enough with you...

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
