I'm remembering Christmas of long, long ago
My parents kissing 'neath the mistletoe
Red stockings hung and home fires burning
Another year finished, another page turning
Christmas tree sparkles with twinkling lights
unforgettable times and magical nights
Remembering faces gathered round the feast
There was enough love for the oldest to least
Children at play and loud laughter ringing
Making memories bright and true joy bringing
Bible on the table, not gathering any dust
Reading of Christ's birth, a holiday must
I'm remembering Christmas and those I miss
Wishing I could give them all a Christmas kiss
Their voices I still hear, beloved faces see
They live on each Christmas in my memory
Blessed time of the year for family and friends
Honoring old memories while each new one begins
THE OLDER WE GET THE DEARER THE MEMORIES. GOOD WORK LA BELLE, THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS. HOPE YOU HAD A WONDERFUL AND BLESSED DAY!
Your poem brought back memories of childhood Christmases with so many of our extended family getting together for food, games, and song. It was always cold and snowy outside and warm and happy inside. With extended family spread all over the country, those happy times are gone. But we still manage smaller celebrations with adoptive families wherever we are.
