twilight had fallen
menacing mists rising
I had lost my way
in the city of the dead
up one path, down another
searching for the place

only two days had passed
since under clay sod

You betcha! This is my kind of macabre poetical writing. You could extend this in so many ways and people such as I would look forward to your postings.
Perfectly rhymed and perfectly macabre with the insinuation that you, the writer, was coming to pay respects, and perhaps, determine whether or not the dagger had done its job and did him in. So that's why black cats conjure up such fear? "Scratch your eyeballs out" is almost as bad as having an egret spear them and choke them down to regurgitate later in the nest for the youngins to eat.
