You've always been such a powerhouse with poetry and prose. And now you come along with a grand slam about as true as your life has always been, yet so fanciful and light.

We need to do the things that would make us happy. We are our own priority. We need not worry about whether or not our work will be accepted by others. We are not seeking others' approval for what makes us happy. Life is short, live and let live. That's the way to be.

I'd rather eat a hearty ill-constructed sandwich with mayonnaise than one that is well-constructed but tastes flat. I enjoyed the one with the mayonnaise. It helps my tongue to taste its goodness.

Interesting personal take. There's much in the stanzas that any poet could identify with. For me, the only difference is: "...penning poetry saved my life, you see

allowing me to be anybody but me..." I found the opposite true for me. Having spent a career writing, directing and acting in fictitious material, poetry allowed me to be more of who I was. For that I am ever so grateful, even though there were occasions I've taken personal experience and couched it in what might appear less of me and perhaps a bit of fiction.

Rewarding to read of your experience as a poet. More poets should attempt the same.
