Gnarled old tree
arms spread so wide
tell me of secrets
you hold inside.

You’ve lived many years
troubles you’ve seen
the ground beneath you
wasn’t always green.

You’ve seen young lovers
on blankets neath your shade
looking through branches
at flowers in the glade.

You’ve heard soft laughter
felt feet climb to your top
pretending to spy pirate ships
shouting to them, STOP !!!!

I see this marker before me
sadness too you have seen
someone laid to rest
to now eternally dream.

Powerfully you stand above us
wise eyes still scan the scene
you’ve seen so many amazing sites
on this hilltop you are Queen.
