A blank page stares at me,
“What do I write”, I wonder.
Crisp and neat, crackling with life,
I dip my quill in the ink, and pause.
These words that I may write
Shall become immortal, forever.
Lost and found, jumbled around,
Coherent thoughts, thrown asunder.
Some may read them, some may not,
Some may try to understand, grasp
And grapple with the nothingness, that
Words are an everlasting trend.
They convey, they convince,
They communicate and bewilder.
Thoughts so precious, and yet so not,
To them I completely surrender.
Ciphers and scribes and many lost tribes,
Hopes and dreams, and records of lives,
Codes and notes and missives of love,
The written word, always survives.
