This poem was written for my 17 year old daughter whom I love with all of my heart and soul.

Were you ever mine to begin with

seems you’re so distant these days

seems the past is on my heels

chasing me with abandon

reminding me of your face

your charm, your smile

and in the meantime I’ll wait awhile

why you catch your breath

after you come up from your wretched drink

that drowns who you really are, who I know you

are.

Were you ever mine to begin with?

I think in some small way you were

perhaps when your were so small

so willing to lie in my arms and

let me love you, let me love you.

Oh, how the days go by so slowly

painfully cutting into my soul so deep

leaving scars that will remain

forever etched in my mind

and forever stretches out so far

so far that I can’t see who I am

who I was or who I might become.

Were you ever mine to begin with?

I’ll never really know now that you’re gone

now that you’ve sailed away into another

life. Your journey has begun and in spite

of all that’s happened between us, I believe

in the bright future of tomorrow, I believe

in redemption and the thought of you brings

me to my knees…I will see you again…one

day…in another time…I will see you and

perhaps then you will be mine, until that time

I will remain forever yours.

Beatifully written
I must say that reconcilliation is, at times, the only hope we can hang onto.
I do find it quite odd that this has been posted for three months, without a review!
Come on people, where's the support for this Beautiful Artist???

Keep your chin up Mary, God Bless "YOU" you are so Beautiful!
