This poem was inspired from a new neighbors meeting. Her teen committed suicide.
Dread and doom follow me Hopelessness envelops my joy, my hopes, my dreams. There is no light at the end of this tunnel it seems. Falling, flailing into darkness unknown. Curling into myself so I can not be seen. Taking the last step will be easy for me. I know the deep pain will subside once I cross the forbidden line. There my pain will be no more Like an eagle I will soar into the light that was hidden from me peace will be mine eternally.

Mary, you've captured through images and words, "depression," it's a sad sickness that robs a person of their souls. The sad thing about teenagers being depressed is they can put on such a good face like all is well when they are suffering so much inside. This is a great writing and I'm sure many readers will relate to this.

Mary, You've expressed well what depression is all about, feelings of hopelessness and despair beyond belief. It is a disease that sometimes will, sadly, lead to suicide. My heart goes out to this lost soul and the family she has left behind.
