Contemplations taken from The Fast Still Life

A poem about stress, family life, health, sleepless nights, and menopause.

A

Bout with the

Covers on the bed occurs

During the hour of 3

Every morning.

Fighting for comfort, I try to analyze

Growing temperatures in a seemingly young

Human body.

It is far from sun's light.  Analytical theories are a

Joke at this point in time since sleep is

Key to a healthy morning's start.

Lying in a pool of sweat is not how I pictured

My mid-life,

No.  What did I do to deserve such a fate? Be

Oblivious to the reality of age?  Is thaat so wrong?

Peering at the clock, I continue to

Question my life.

Random thoughts of feeling old

Steal more

Time.

Unfortunately for me, I have another

Vigorous day

With a Grandfather that has

Xenophobic tendencies due to his Alzheimer's.

Yeilding to

Zany thoughts is not what I need right now.

I sleep like that too, including the sweat. But I'm way past menopause, so it must be something else. Am I channeling you? ;-)
