My Hearts Command

Even after death, in the after life, love waits. When burden of a loss becomes so heavy, the spirit which never leaves is but there to comfort.

Drifts my soul gently across the blistering sand

Hours absorbed in my hearts command

As the sunset falls into twilight

Gently the suds of the tide caress my feet

'Tis here, this spot, we use to meet

I glance into the night's darken sea

Remembering your lips

Your breath touching me

'Tis here our hearts fell passionately in Love

Now, I'm one of the Angels from above

I've carried with me my only Love

Waiting till Heaven's destiny calls

'Tis this night many moons ago

You pull me from the tides a shore

Baring a loss of sweet surrender

There were no rings to bind our Love

There you stand staring into the sea

Longing to caress our Love, meant to be

'Tis no time that can erase

Our destined Love, waiting again to be

Thanks for this heartfelt poem. It says all I know and have been thinking about since Tom died. It encourages me to look forward to my future and keeping Tom's spirit within me is the way to keep going on day by day. This says nothing but the truth and the truth shall make us free. Love never leaves with out loved ones gone ahead.

A gift from God: Forever in love.

I feel it. I know it. It waits for me.

"The future holds no dread for heaven is just ahead."

As for your recommendation I decided to check out this title and I am pleased I did. The issue of life after death and love after death is one that captures the imagination of all writers from time to time but your smooth lines, loping rythem and sureal images make this poem one of the best on the subject. Well done Deb.
