Tender Babes in the woods
So secretive despising at times
Parents’ words of wisdom
They are Meadow-larks
Each day mingling with the flock
Hanging out so say to speak
In their whispers
As Parent’s we pick up
Bits and pieces
Morsels enough to suggest
The rights and wrongs
While they laugh behind our backs
Thinking we stuck our noses
Where they don’t belong
Thinking our stupidity
We try with patience
To flush their stupidity away
With experience
Begging our Sweet Darlings too hush-hush
Wanting them to bow out gracefully
The flock to become Doves
They think in their own minds
The laugh is on us
Only we the Parent’s have the last laugh
Standing patiently sometimes for years
To hear their lips of an adulthood whisper
You were right I should have listened
It is in that moment
Our hearts shine
For
As Parent’s we know
Intelligence finally set in
Our patience and interference
Paid off in their strength and wisdom
Welcome to the world of adulthood
Hush-hush Sweet Darlings
Be patient with your children
When their lips whisper bits and pieces
It is your turn to deal with the morsels
