A Plea
These emotions, I want them no more!
Purge me of them, strip them from
My very core. Doubt and elation spew
Forth like a geyser of self infliction, yet
Also of sweetness that forever floats
Upon time. This heart, I wish not to
Feel it! Take it away, and with it, the
Impending pain I know awaits me in
Days ahead. I know this emotion all
Too well, and tread not upon this soil
Of crushed roses and thorns. Yet, I do
Find myself caught in elation’s grasp
And it holds me, steadfast. Break this
Heart, I do scream, for that is the only
Way to purge me of this ridiculous dream.
I yearn for pain to come flooding back
Once more, then perhaps I can stop
The wonderment of things unknown. Is
There any other way? Me thinks not, for
I’ve seen this before. Kindred spirit or not,
I wish not to fall off this cliff once more. I
Wish not to wear my heart upon this sleeve,
For the entire world to see, but tuck it neatly
Away into the darkness of the night and keep
It safe from trampling feet. Please, take these
Emotions away!
