Perhaps it was but a dream,
The end to that long moment
Where time ends, and there is
No beginning nor end. It was
In that moment when life came
To an abrupt halt, someone pulled
On that emergency brake and
Upon the road of life were skid
Marks left behind. There was a
Crash as metal twisted in pieces
Upon the road! She lay there,
Unconscious and alone … There
Was no light, in her death, only
Darkness that settled upon the
Land immediately following her
Fall from grace. In her death, with
That last dying breath, she mustered
The strength and whispered his name.

You've taken a simple metaphor and extended it to mind-blowing effect. Brilliant!
