A sad and beautiful senryu. Thank God for our military. You wrote well about their sacrifices. Thanks much for sharing this loving, patriotic trilogy of poems.
A sad note, since posting this piece, one more Soldier from Oregon has given their life...the number now is 89...when will it stop?

There is no glory in war. Answers that make any sense are hard to come by. The selfless love these fallen men and women had for their fellow countrymen will never be forgotten. May they rest in peace. I thank God for each and every one of them.

Great write with haiku. Quite a tribute by telling a story of the 88 men who lost their lives fighting a cause. Have you tried writing 'tanka'-style poetry? It's fun.
