Micah 6:8 (New International Version)
8 He has showed you, O man, what is good,
and what does the LORD require of you;
to act justly, to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God.
 

I was asked to lead a meditation group, and was told I could choose the subject. I chose the theme “If I were God” now for the purist’s reading this essay, I know that I am not, nor ever will be God, but for a few minutes why not find out what I would think, and say, from my heavenly throne.
 

If I were God, these would be my rules; not based on theological ideologies, scriptural interpretation or laws, but based on the fact that it is simply the right thing to do.
 

Rule #1:
*To do justly - To render to everyone their due, superiors, equals, inferiors, to be equal to all, and oppress none, in body, goods or name; in all your dealings with men carry a chancery in your own beasts, and do according to equity.
 

This is easier said than done…how hard is it for us to treat all people equally, especially if they don’t fit out perception of what or who they should be?
 

“Sometimes I sit back on my throne (remember, I am God, and it’s my throne) wondering if all the self-righteous evangelicals and fundamentalists of all religions were off slamming the sinners when this rule was administered. Remember, I am God, I blew the breath of life into you, I also know your heart, and I know when your heart is not acting in a justly manner.”
 

Rule #2:
*To love mercy - To be kind, merciful and compassionate to all, not using severity towards any.
 

“You’re stupid!” “He’s a retard” “She’s caught between elevator floors” We say these things and much more yet think there is nothing wrong with saying them; after all, they’re just words.
 

From my vast domain I would like to hear more “I love you” than “I hate you” is that too much to ask?
 

“Look, I gave you free will, right? Well that does not give you the right to break the will, the spirit, the heart of those who are hurting.”
 

Rule #3:
*Walk humbly with thy God - Keep up a constant fellowship with God, by humble, holy faith.
 

“I, I, I, I” that’s all I ever hear from you! You fool don’t you realize that it is not all about you, we are not waiting with baited breath for what you have to say, or listen to you brag about your latest conquest, because, frankly, dear child, we don’t give a damn!
 

Have you learned nothing, listen child, what I want you to do from now on is check your ego at the door, slow down, take a deep breath, and be still in your walk with me…check out that little sparrow, it doesn’t worry from day to day, why should you?”
 

If I were God, ruling from a heavenly throne…this is all I would ask of you.
