Momma

Rejoicing in be a Son

Are the dream lights on anyone buffed the gold check the spaces. They are here! I thought of my parents today knowing that I love them both only one raised me. She gave me all she had. Talked to her today and laughed at her observations on life particularly mine. No I would never admit she was right. That’s my privilege I am her son she is the angel that the Lord placed here for me. To protect me. Better still to govern my wandering soul and mind. She is older now but so am I. Our age difference didn’t change with age it got shorter. My angel wonders about life and what it means her mind wanders now sometimes she can’t round it up. My ears now trained to hear silent distress my heart tugging at my spirit she needs me now. As she was my knight in youth I am now the crusader and wise vizier, when she needs a ear. Not just any but one she feels that loves her for her. Yes she has done mighty things in this life. The spirit that is Momma has not dimmed one bit the body that holds it has betrayed her again and again. Yet to all that know her she is only one phone call away. So as she is so must I be. Her laughter and mirth at my predicaments, she saw herself in me long ago, yes she always lets me know. I can admit the pride I feel the joy that the Lord saw fit to bless me with the qualities of this great woman. This time that I spend putting the thoughts of the well of wisdom that I call Momma to record. I have daughters and sons grand babies, None have been as close to me as this Pearl that gave birth to me. Think what you will I love to treasure things, the living most of all our parents are the foundation of our lives. The brains of our past I plan to celebrate in this gift till God calls her off the dance floor.

Horrace,
Beautiful tribute to your Momma. It brought back memories of my own Mama. I lost her many years ago to a hit run driver. She was hit as she crossed the road. I will never forget that night or the pain of losing her. Nothing is ever the same again when you lose a parent. Awesome poetry, Horrace.
