part of a Solo Performance piece I performed at Cleveland Public Theater.

Copyrighted Excerpt from my forthcoming book:

'Notes From the MotherShip ~ Naked Invisibles'

This is the weight of being a woman, a mother, a wife...the other

Must I always be stable?

The one who holds everything together,

...becoming invisible to myself?

I'm tired of playing house

MY ARMS ARE SO TIRED!

I AM SO TIRED

of holding my fractured self..to..ge..ther.

Yoko Ono said, "Women are the niggers of the world."

God.  She's right.

I cannot step outside of being a woman,

nor do I chose to.

I am a grrl,

a mother,

a wife,

and a frightened child.

I am the other

..meaning other than myself

to be the reflection

YOU require.

I am the mirror

YOU

manipulate

to adjust

your

LIFE.

I am still...

the object

to

your subject.

Lately,

I have come upon myself.

Glanced my memory in a vacant mirror

Reunited with the semblance of a time

when my pathos

was not so...overwhelming.

The manchild,

my son,

will never know

can not possibly

understand

this angst.

He will always

be the

SUBJECT,

not the OBJECT.

Men in general

will never

understand me

and my kind.

My son

and his father

soak

comfortably

in

their

MANHOOD.

Like lively flowers

and

delicious fruit

they grow

OUT OF THE SOIL OF ME.

i am the other

i am woman

and the WORLD

grows out of MY SOIL.

Adrienne,

Women are definitely the soil of the earth which you say so well in your poem. Without their fertile guidance life could never take root and flourish. Foresaking herself she nurtures growth. Your inspires the mind. Blessings to You Always, Paul.
