The grass looks greener over there

The astronaut with his throttles up
Went soaring through the sky
The gravitational pull was gone
He'd made it oh so high

Then suddenly there came the darkness
As he entered this vast creation
But the astronaut, he was unaware
In his suspended animation

The computer awoke him, 100 years later
He was a billion miles from home
His thoughts went back to his parent's farm
And the fields where he did roam

But his mission called for steadfastness
As he searched for signs of life
He just couldn't stop to think of earth
This would only cause him strife

Although his training spanned many years
To be focused on this course
The grey barren planet that was now his home
It just filled him with remorse

His thoughts ran back to his mom and dad
And his heart filled up with pride
Then tears ran down his sunken cheeks
Cause' he knew they'ed long since died

He was just a man, of flesh and blood
And he'd made a grave mistake
If the clock could turn back 100 years
This trip he would not make

For the grass looks greener over there
Or at least thats what they say
But this astronaut won't be coming back
He had booked this trip, one way

Great rhythmic rhyming! And this especially resonates with me as I consider a move from Seattle back to my former home state of KY. "Should I stay or should I go?!"

An intriguing write indeed, while also sheltering a wise message for the reader! Well written, great plot, and a full of wisdom! I have found that more times than not the grass is not greener on the other side! Enjoyed this much!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

He Was Weird by Michael LeFevre

My second book is about a boy who has Asperger's Syndrome and is bullied to the point to where he shoots up his school. I have divided the excerpts from it into three parts: Before, during and after the shooting.
