A wee nostalgic ride

My father would talk of days gone by
And I would frown and yawn
What's the point of this, I then would think
Why those useless days are gone

But lo and behold, as time goes on
Now I'm saying the same thing
Telling my daughter's of the good old days
And the joy those days would bring

A time when neighbor's would be your friends
And if required you would lend a hand
When a slower pace of life was lived
Sometimes crawling to a stand

Now suspicion and doubt replace those times
You don't talk to the stranger next door
And the welcome mat that sat in your hall
Is replaced with a cold tile floor

The plastic cards that replaced your cash
Now they cause you great concern
And the sleepless toss turned nights you face
Is a price that you do not yearn

And although technology has improved most things
It has not improved them all
Cause' crimes taken over the quality of life
Oh those days, if we could only recall

Most of us don't even know our neighbors, let alone consider them friends. Is this the new society?

Oh boy to I wish we could tuen back the clock. The days of when you never had to lock your doors, be it house, apartment or cars. No technology cannot improve everything and it seems that the quality of life has been on a downward slide for many years now....

Be safe,
Karen

Gerald,

A stunningly penned journey down memory lane, how things have changed. Some for the better, some not...well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
