(This is a wee tribute to the best soccer player the world has ever seen)

Now our little country of Northern Ireland
May be smaller than the rest
But sometimes our country pulls out the stops
And produces the very best

One name was tops and he was a star
And I watched his genius when a boy
As he jinked his way across the pitch
It just filled our hearts with joy

But George he had a sometimes troubled life
And some media were waiting for to pounce
His talent was forgotten in their printed words
Squeezed his misfortune to the very last ounce

But most over here don't think badly of George
In our eyes he simply was elite
And when George was criticised off the field
He went back on and answered with his feet

Cause' the magic he had in his balanced boots
Simply cannot be denied
And those who sought to emulate him
Well lets just say, 'they simply, TRIED.'

It was drink that took George in the end
But his legend could leap any gorge
The best damn player the world has ever seen
Is the way we remember our George

Now George always said he'd be a happy man
If just one person were to remember him
But thousands lined his funeral on that day
An ocassion that was dismal, sad and grim

So we'll say goodbye to the Belfast boy
Who once had the world at his feet
Now he's teaching the Angels how to dribble a ball
My word, but they're having such a treat

Beautifully written tribute to a sparkling star who graced you and many others paths who now shines brightly above. Well Done, Deborah
