Stan rogers was a rising star
A Canadian born and bred
His folk songs of ordinary people
He sang with the band he led

But Stan could not fulfill his dream
His ambitions or his aims
Cause' in 83 Stan Rogers died
When his plane burst into flames

The pilots struggled to bring her down
As the cabin filled with smoke
23 survived, and 23 died
When the flames they ran amoke

But anyone can hear Stan's songs
If they log on to the net
Northwest passage, Barry's privateers
Are the type of songs you'll get

One song though, it stands out for me
A song of hope and pride
And maybe Stan's singing, Mary Ellen Carter
To the angels on the other side

Stan left a wife and children
And a family who shed many tears
But this talented genius, he left his mark
And his music will live on through the years
