THE HARD FACT

You helped a homeless person this Christmas time
And now your consciense is clear
You did your bit, so sit back and relax
This will last for another year

But Christmas day means nothing to them
Just a better soup kitchen meal
Then the very next day it's all forgotten
It's the sad but honest deal

And this is why a happy occasion
Can be sad at the same time
Cause' this is a fact you can't deny
This ain't no nursery ryhme

But most of this is drink related
And, 'BUT FOR THE GRACE OF GOD GO I'
Cause' circumstance can change any man
As fast as the blink of an eye

But we can't bring them home to live with us
And it would be foolish to even try
Cause' we have our own families to think about
And you know that's the reason why

So don't feel guilty, you're not a saint
And life is hard enough
But say a prayer on the day for them
In a world that's cold and tough

say a prayer on the day for them,
In a world that's cold and tough

And it seems to be getting colder and tougher all the time now, for far too many souls.

Heartfelt and true, Gerald. Very well expressed in meter and rhyme. Nice piece of work.

This is a hard fact indeed.
All we do can seem so little- but life is a series of little moments put together. Every good moment we give another person counts for something.
Very thoughtful poem here.

John

Extraterrorestrial Beings v4 by RickthePoetWarrior

Our heroes are revealed for all they are, the final flash of a dying star, for with this pen I do they mar, with hopes I leave ‘em all a scar.

Giving Myself 'A' Reason For Going On by RickthePoetWarrior

A homonymless man writes shows what it's like to look up the laid he skirts when you’re lying prone(d) to the sidewalk, beer / joint / needle dangling from your hand /lips / arm.
