The prisoner sits in his lonely cell
For a path of crime he clearly chose
But the festering hate he feels inside
Day by day it grows and grows

Cause' in his mind he did no wrong
It was society that made him this way
No one gave him a decent break in life
God gave him no part to play

He showed no remorse for those he killed
Why, he would do it all again
When he sat in the courtroom, smirk on his face
Void of feelings for his victims families pain

But the law had quickly tracked him down
And he surrendered without much fuss
This guy who had said, 'come and get me cops'
Shunted out with no more than a cuss

And when he's strapped to the gurney
He will show the world no fear
As the needles do what they're meant to do
Make his whole world disappear

So we've all been given the choice in life
And for the people who are honest, and try
They may not live like a millionare
But they can truly hold their heads up high

Good story here, Gerald...and of course you are absolutely correct. No matter what our past....we make the choices that determine our future. There is no one else to blame for our mistakes...
