The autumn symphony begins with the blanching of the leaves
At the downbeat of falls first frosty night.
Pale green piccolos play first, then yellow clarinets join in
Accompanied by a pink and purple timpani.
Golden violins and rich brown cellos add substance to the piece,
Then on a glorious dawn
Orchestral horns blare out all the shades of crimson and of red
And the hills burst forth in a crescendo of color.
Then slowly – slowly, the music fades
Till only cellos remain to drone the final bars.
