The Sweetheart Tree

In the center of the Garden Of Time is where the Sweetheart Tree grows, it's leaves are two united hearts.

There is a Sweetheart Tree that grows in the Garden of Time,
The leaves are crimson red, each one a Valentine.
This tree blooms eternally, it thrives on love,
It symbolizes a hope for Happy Ever After and is the home of the Peaceful Dove.
When mortals fall in love two leaves combine,
Their love's leaf forms a Valentine.
This joining is in hope that their love will withstand the test of time.
If you look among the leaves, some are torn in half, a very sad sign,
This shows a parting, love died and no longer formed a Valentine.
Some leaves emit a dewy substance, like human tears,
They mourn a lost love that didn't last through the years.
Some half leaves stand alone, with no chance of a mate,
When death came calling, a solitary life was their fate.
Some leaves have tiny worm holes, where bitterness left a scar,
Some leaves are missing, because life's storm winds scattered them afar.
Our leaf stands securely, our love will stand the test of time,
Trust is our shelter and true love makes you mine.

. . . isn't it neat how a simple leaf can give us so much to think, about! The world and everything within it...needs a pen! :)AMEN!
Love and Peace~

Well done and so very beautifully stated. Enjoyed the comparison between leaves and human emotion, very descriptive. A very heartwarming piece...

The music sounds like the church steeples in my hometown of Savannah and your poetry is a reminder of the love we all cherish either at one time, now or in faith.
