Their love was a fairytale, a joy to behold,
All envied their love story, if truth be told.
The years flew by, bringing happiness everyday,
They loved each other more than words can say.
They grew old, but didn't care,
Life was good, as long as each other was there.
Then oneday a stroke came like a thief and stole him away,
He became an empty shell with nothing to say.
He now looked at her like a stranger and didn't know her name,
Although he knew her not, she loved him just the same.
Painful joints and withered body took its toll,
She remained his champion, daily his hand she did hold.
Each day she did battle, each day brought another struggle,
She endured the sadness of the day and each night, upon his chest she snuggled.
She finally reached her wit's end, she couldn't make it another day,
So she fixed a final sleeping potion and for forgiveness she did pray.
She helped him down the drink, drank hers and kissed him, lying by his side,
Snuggling upon his chest, she whispered." Goodnight Sweet Prince" and then they peacefully died.

But, at least, the lovers wouldn't be separated, not ever!
This is as romantic as it gets...to love someone so much that the thought of living on alone without them is unbearable. Sadly though did they remember the ones left behind who would grieve them...sons, daughters, parents and friends?
