Living with...(poem and prose)

Just wrote a poem about living with my illness. Something interesting....I drew a watercolor painting back in 1992 of my head and realized when I found it today, cleaning out some bins, that it shows 3 tumors/lesions!!!! Yes, THREE! I do not know if I can take three of them! Just getting news on the second one has thrown me for a loop!

Of course, the picture could be wrong, but I drew it back in 1992, 13 years before the second one was found! ?????
Makes you wonder!!!!!

A dysfunctional family,
(aren’t we all?)
My only stability
going to Doctor’s Offices.
That was my habit, I
got addicted.

Mom told me,
”You’re a hypochondriac”.
Then I had the arduous process
of the first brainstem lesion/tumor
for the next eight and a half years!
That showed her!

Not that I wanted it or anything.
I was just soooooo ANGRY at her
back then in 1989, and I resented
her living in my dorm room while I was
in the hospital receiving radiation or
having a brain shunt revision surgery!

Lesion taken out, Year 1997.
Eighteen months to recover.
Do okay till Feb. 2003.
Doctors don’t do anything.
MRI scan on Aug. 9th, 2004;
ANOTHER lesion/tumor has shown up!
Where do I go from here?
Six months later, it is starting,
all over again.

God give me your strength!

Sometimes a faux picture can show if it is just a fluid sac. This is not uncommon. In fact I have a fluid sac where my kidney was. One person that I know had what appeared to be a new lesion on her brain but it wasn't. She however Rebecca has survived five of them.

I've oftened wondered about "second ones." One blessing I do see, is that you know what to expect. You beat it once, you can do it again. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers... Dave
