I give thanks to Nikki and Daniela for continuing to inspire me with the form of poetry that has become so popular here at AD.
Please notice the first letter of each line spells a word. It is my brain disease, hydrocephalus. Kinda comical really!
Heaven helps me
Yesteryears are sought
Darkness during day
Right to fight
Outpatient visits
Cute I am while in the Hospital
Explaining symptoms
Patient always I am
Hospital stays
An on-call doctor
Lumbar puncture I do not like
Ultrasound gel I do not like
Surgery must be done,DAMN!

I was born with hydrocephalus in 1980 and have had two neurosurgeries to place shunts and replace shunts, since then. The last surgery being in 1986. I have had no trouble since then, thank God, but I know all too well, the risks -- the frustration and the fact that so many consider us to be different, though we are not.

I liked this acrostic. It hinges on reality but touches in the past. There was an epic quality of it. Excellent descriptions. Well done.

Great job here Becca helps put it all on a level you can deal with
.I am glad you have not allowed the problem to be who you are. As, you know I hate labels they can limit human growth. You have the disease but it sure doesn't have you!I know you encourage others with your good attitute.
