Computer Says...

Computers are useful, but not when they become an excuse for intellectual and educational indolence and slovenliness...

Computer says –

Computer says that day is night

Oh what am I to do?

I cannot work without daylight

Computers they are always right

This I believe with all my might

All thought we must eschew

Computer says that six is nine

Oh deary, dreary me!

My shoe’s too tight

My suit’s a fright

I’ve gained such height

Computer wrong? It cannot be

Computer says I need not think

Oh happiness is mine!

No need to check through all my bills

Or read the gauge as my car fills

I am devoid of thinking skills

Now that machines have freed my mind

Computer says I need not spell

Oh joy, I’m such a slob

I needn’t bother now with books

My friends say English is for kooks

I need to work upon my looks

Don’t care that I won't get a job

Computer memorizes all

Oh what a gracious beast!

I can’t remember anyway

No need to recall month or day

Nor walk through deeds of yesterday

Of all my skills it matters least

Computer takes up all my day

No need for human chatter

No need to get up from my couch

Or worry much about my slouch

For this my lifestyle I will vouch

The world outside just doesn’t matter

My father says that I am thick

Oh great calamity

I read but do not see the words

I count, my answers are absurd

I talk, my sentences are blurred

Is it too late for me?

My mother says that I am fat

Oh how can this be true

Computer says it’s just bad luck

Not all the grease I chew and suck

Or lack of exercise – oh f***!

See - now my mirror’s lying too

My teacher says that I am fine

High standards do not matter

Old fashioned is the world of words

Maths is obsolete, for nerds

PT is dangerous, for birds

My keyboard I must clatter

Computer broke down yesterday

Now this is true disaster

I panic as I look around

And recognise no sight or sound

The world’s just spinning round and round

Oh please return, my master!

Computers. Can't live with them, can't live without them. LOL They're only as good as those who program them. :) Excellent, Keith.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Cute piece! Ah yes I think some people forget computers are no more than tools and are programmed to spit back out what you put in, so much for accuracy, right???

Be safe,
Karen

You rascal I was just about learning to enjoy it, and than you pricked so many holes in it I even checked my mirror, Am I to believe my wife now instead the computer? Keith you truly are a real gadfly, what's his name, your friend wrote some music about you, I can hear the buzz, I like the line about thinking skills it's hillarious, keep it up give me no rest, Ah I love you anyway!

with great humor you warn those of us who spend so much time on the computer. Very prophetic. My computer says you are wrong, but my heart says you are right.

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
