VIOLET EYES
she had hypnotic eyes
unlike any I’ve looked into before or since
violet, like a fading sunset at twilight
they caressed my dark eyes, pressing me
to admire her, lust for her…. love her
they compressed my pounding heart
until the heady wine of love poured out
in a crescendo of undulating, living waves
onto the quiet darkness of night around us
her hair was erotically inspiring to touch
with anxious fingers my hands got lost in it
a silken sunset afire in the soft candlelight
sweet scented, like her swanlike neck
and satin shoulders that invited my kisses
her breasts, full and firm, were created
for the pleasure of my hungry mouth
the caresses of her diminutive hands
awakened my body as none other ever has
she came to me again
in a dream last night, as she often has
so real I could smell her perfume and feel
the warmth of her bare body against my skin
I reached for her and she was no longer there
memory of the love in her violet eyes remained
and her whisper lingered long in my ear and heart
that smooth, sexy voice I will never forget, saying
“it’s time for you to find love in another‘s eyes”
It's been a while since I've seen your intoxicating romantic poetry. Two things stand out for me. First, the idea that the dream was so real that you actually thought it was happening. I wish for all lonely souls out there to have dreams like that so that they would not be alone in this life and could love themselves a bit better. Kind of like having a imaginary friend, but more fulfilling.
Secondly, the putdown at the end was a big surprise. But I guess it was necessary so that reality could enter in and be much better than any dream.
