A collection of short verses about getting old.

Poem Artwork

 One gets old…

One gets old, no matter how hard you try

One cannot stay young… I do not know why…

But as my kids got older – funnily -

I’m the youngest one of my family…

 Getting old is easy.

Getting old is easy; requires no brain,

It does not even require any grace.

Though you have here and there a bit of pain,

Still better than the pimples on your face.

Having haemorrhoids.

Having haemorrhoids is just another pain.

It is another “icing on old age’s cakes”

But cherish it; don’t treat it with disdain.

Sitting on it takes your mind off your other aches.

What a fine dream!

What a fine dream! A positive delight!

I was having it having a catnap.

My grandson told me a story last night,

Whilst I was sitting comfy on his lap.

I am positive.

I am positive about my old age.

I am positive that I am getting old,

I’m positive that it is an outrage

Getting fatter and also getting bald.

 Sitting and thinking.

I am sitting. Sitting and thinking.

No great thoughts, so it isn’t a drain.

My death will be easy achieving,

My body will just follow my brain.

If I could…

I’m getting towards the end of my life,

A life full of joys, trials, sorrows, pain…

If I could repeat it without the strife…

I still would… not bother ever again.

But seriously….

Life is a gift, a beautiful present,

It’s nothing less than a heavenly call.

A journey through past, future and present

And it’s the end that justifies it all.

Aches & pains, a part of getting old,
Maybe therein I will pass on that story as told,
As I hate pain and aches, as we all do, not so bold,
But these poems or collection of same, you have done a great job,
You have most definitely given me something to think about,
Yes, you have sold...

Gonna die before I am old, or at least that is what I had thought all my life, as I get closer to the age old worry, I find I would rather stay around and see how life ends...Peace thru Words, Ed & Rufuz
