Panta Rei = everything is changing!

Heraclitus - Greek philosopher - lived from 536 to 470 BC. He encapsulated his philosophy in just two words: Panta Rei, literally meaning: everything flows, or everything is changing. He argued that everything is constantly changing, from the smallest grain of sand to the stars in the sky.

Yesterday’s green leaves are yellow today,

Blue sky of summer now has a grey coat,

Hands of the clock moves, minutes tick away,

Yesterday’s love is today’s anecdote.

The boy is a grown man, gone the peach skin,

Firm body of young girl now sadly sags,

Into ghoul-head turned the handsome pumpkin

And the calf’s skin will be sold as handbags.

Nothing stands still. Nothing remains the same.

Futile is glory, futile is the lust.

Wasted are the minutes searching for fame,

Human life is short and it ends in dust.

I guess I am confused. Maybe not. This Greek philosopher figured out that what seems to be happening around him, i.e., thing change, based his philosopy on that? I can understand it I suppose, after all, it was 536 to 470 BC, and I guess nobody had noticed it yet. Good poem in any case.

This poem changes the routes of the thoughts. "Panta Rei." is a rainbow of wisdom under the sun of life.

This "Panta Rei." enriched my mind, and lighted my thoughts.

Healthy Long Life, Poet!
