In Memory of Dr David Kelly*

The Lion truly is king of the jungle,

It would be most unwise with him to tangle;

Who would dare it, but a fool.

The Lamb is a mild, meek natured creature,

Fighting Lions is against his nature;

He’s happy just to give wool.

But even meek natured creatures have right

To stand and against injustice to fight,

Even a King to oppose.

A Lion may have to kill for his food

But killing just to satisfy his mood…

Justifies the Lamb’s vetoes.

And so in the Jungle Telegraph the Lamb

Declared that the Lion was an old sham

And he forthwith should resign.

Angrily the Lion swallowed the Lamb,

But now with constant heartburn the old Sham

Lives on daily alkaline.

* Dr David Kelly was a British Government Scientist, Member of the Iraq WMD Inspectorate who went public with information regarding the “45 minutes ready to launch” issue of Saddam’s supposed WMD arsenal. Subsequently he was hounded by the British Government and committed suicide. The perpetrators of the “spin” that persuaded the British to go to war in Iraq are still in power, Iraq is in a mess, and terrorism has not abated.

Unfortunately the British electorate suffer from very short memory…
