Boo!… I’m behind you… Did I frighten you?…
Turn and look in my eyes… Are you afraid?…
I’ll whisper softly… Gently I will coo:
“Come with me…’Tis the end of the charade.”
Tic-toc, tic-toc, the minutes tick away,
Ding-dong, ding-dong, the bells begin to chime,
You don’t see me yet, but I am on my way,
To finish your poem with perfect rhyme.
Whether you know or not, it matters not,
All through your life I’ve been right at your heel,
Seductive mistress, passionate harlot,
In an unreal world… the only thing real…
No matter what, I will not let you go.
Mine is a true love… and you will be mine…
If you are the song, I am your echo,
Your all consuming, loving concubine.
You don’t have to fear me; I am benign,
Even wrote you a fitting epitaph,
Summing up a life that was asinine:
“His life was a joke; He had his last laugh.”
