The sun packed away its sorrows and went
Below the horizon in steep descent,
Oozing blood into silent lakes.
Now is the time for a leisurely stroll,
Long lost memories gently to cajole,
Recalling past joys and heartaches.
The moment I saw “that” smile on your face…
The rapture I felt in our first embrace…
A teardrop on your eyelashes…
The touch of your hand, the silk of your hair…
Acacia scent in a hot summer’s air…
Memories flow in fast flashes…
The road leads nowhere… past merge with present…
Down went the sun… the moon is a crescent…
After summer comes the hard frost…
I stand by the lakeside as darkness fall;
Memories can soothe… they can also maul…
…Illusions of the moments lost…

This is profoundly moving, poignant poetry at its best; well done, Sir!
