Her head on my shoulder she is sleeping fast,
I'm embracing a mere shadow of the past.
The bad news hit home starkly…
Nothing 's for ever, everything must end,
We all have to go - no use to pretend -
Into the unknown… darkly…
But let's stretch the days; do not count the hours,
Don’t give in to pain, bad mood that devours,
Or the fear that comes nightly…
Look up to the stars and the glow beyond,
The Universe is ours, it will respond…
A white light shines there… brightly…
