You're Homo Sapiens… Imperfect Creature…
You think you're the Crowning Glory of Nature.
Who do you think you are?…
You are vulnerable, weak and vain to a fault,
But God only knows why, almost by default,
A true hero you are…
You live with the knowledge you're going to die,
You don't ask the question: "Oh, Lord tell me why?"
You never look too far.
You get on with living, you suffer and toil,
Have few pleasures, but life is full of turmoil…
…What a hero you are…
…A true hero you are…

This is excellent poetry and I know it because I study these courses at the moment. Traditional poetry of metered rhyme and verses have evolved and yours is a very very good example. The impact is effective and you get your message across with such verbose skill it amazes me.
One other thing, being true and honest with your feelings as you write IS POETRY.

You don't ask the question: "Oh, Lord tell me why?""
But I do, Peter, I do!!! And the answers are as multifarious as the voices in my head!
Great stuff, mate.

We are nothing - but in God's eyes, He thinks we are. It's just too bad we don't listen and try to forge out on our own, making a mess of things - powerfully penned, thought provoking lines, well done -
