In fond memory of my late wife, Erika. (1934-2007)

Poem Artwork

Diamonds, gold, mink, silver, precious stones?

Luxury car? A yacht? Luxury home?

Cordon Bleau food, Hi-Fi, with superb tones,

Luxury villa on the hills of Rome?

Silk, brocade, Rembrandt hanging on the wall,

The best French vine, Champagne and caviars,

Garden with pond, fountains and water-fall,

Silver box full of Havana cigars?...

You keep them all; the finest things for me

Not goods or items that money can buy,

They’re not objects of utter luxury,

But true treasures, the soul to mollify.

They’re the kind of bliss my heart ‘n soul now miss:

Holding hands, warm embrace, a loving kiss…

Today March 15 2009 would be Erika’s 75th Birthday

Blissful is the heart that keeps the love's emotion through its beats, and stands to witness its eternity.

"The finest things in life – Sonnet" shows the togetherness of true love.

In admiration,

Its said, just as you have here sort of, that having is not as happy as wanting, like winning the big lottery is not as good as desiring and dreaming about it...but you have apparently found your lottery in your memories of your wife...I envy you, though, I wouldn't mind as well winning a lottery just once to know how it feels...Ed, Rene & Rufuz [w00f]

Beautiful as always. And, of course you still have that love, that intimacy, that treasure forever with you. Blessings upon you and Erika both. Love never dies, and I see you both reborn across the Abyss, cast into the heavens as stars in the night sky.
Always your words and gentle spirit touch my heart, and for this I thank you.

Keith

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
